Marijke Hopman-RockCHAIR Prof. Dr. Marijke Hopman-Rock is the founding chair (2005) of the European Network for Action on Ageing and Physical Activity (EUNAAPA). Prof. Hopman-Rock is programme manager Physical Activity and Health of TNO Quality of Life (the Dutch Organization for Applied Sciences) in Leiden, the Netherlands. She is also co-director of the Body@Work Research Center, a co-operation between TNO and VU University Medical Center (VUMC) in Amsterdam. Since September 2008 she has been appointed at the VUMC as a special Professor in Physical Activity and Health of Older Persons.

Alfred Ruetten* added to the SC as project coordinator of the PASEO project untill the end of the project (June 2011) Prof. Dr. Alfred Rütten is the head of the department of sports science and sport of the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg. He was visiting research Professor at the Departments of Sociology and Medicine of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (USA), and visiting Professor of Public Health at the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at Yale University, New Haven (USA). Prof. Rütten has worked on cross-national research projects on physical activity surveillance in the European Union. Among them was the "European Physical Activity Surveillance System (EUPASS)" project that tested a physical activity surveillance system. He has also analyzed physical activity data of the Eurobarometer 58.2 for the European Commission, and is currently working on publications about Eurobarometer 63.4 data on physical activity data. Prof. Rütten was coordinator of the EU funded "European Network for Action on Physical Activity and Ageing" project and is currently coordinating the EU funded projects "Improving Infrastructures for Leisure-Time Physical Activity in the Local Arena - Good Practice in Europe (IMPALA) and "Building Policy Capacities for Health Promotion through Physical Activity among Sedentary Older People (PASEO)".
